This high-energy class is designed for dancers who are ready to take their skills to the next level. While the environment is supportive and fun, the curriculum focuses on the technical foundations required for competitive dance, including sharp execution, core strength, and expressive performance.

Students will work on:

  • Technical Precision: Mastering turns (pirouettes), leaps, and kicks with proper alignment.

  • Flexibility & Power: Dynamic stretching and conditioning to build the "explosive" movement jazz is known for.

  • Rhythm & Style: Learning complex choreography that ranges from classic Broadway styles to modern commercial jazz.

  • Performance Quality: Developing the confidence and stage presence necessary for the spotlight.

Is this class right for my dancer?

This program is the perfect "bridge" for recreational students who have a passion for dance and may be interested in joining our Competition Team in the future. It emphasizes the discipline and polish that judges look for, making it an ideal feeder class for those looking to advance.

Why Take This Path?

Transitioning from recreational to competitive dance can be a big leap. By enrolling in this specific jazz track, dancers gain:

  1. Familiarity with the pace and expectations of our team environment.

  2. Targeted Feedback aimed at preparing them for upcoming auditions.

Mini Rec Hip Hop

Friday 5:15-5:45p June-July 8wk Summer Session

Our Youth Hip Hop class is a high-energy introduction to one of the most popular and expressive dance styles. Designed specifically for the boundless energy of 6-to-9-year-olds, this class focuses on building coordination, musicality, and self-confidence in a fun, upbeat environment.

Dancers will explore the fundamentals of hip hop through:

  • Groove & Rhythm: Learning how to find the beat and master "bounce" and "rock" movements.

  • Foundational Skills: Introductions to footwork, freezes, and isolations.

  • Fresh Choreography: Short, age-appropriate routines set to clean, popular music that kids love.

  • Creative Expression: Freestyle circles and games that encourage dancers to show off their unique personalities.

Class Goals

While the focus is on fun and fitness, this class also instills important dance values:

  • Athleticism: Improving core strength, agility, and stamina.

  • Memory: Building cognitive skills by linking movements together into sequences.

  • Teamwork: Learning to dance as a group and support fellow classmates.

Children

What to Wear: Dancers should wear comfortable athletic clothing (leggings, joggers, or shorts) and a clean pair of sneakers used only for the studio floor.

Youth Rec Hip Hop

Friday 5:45-6:30p June-July 8wk Summer Session

This high-voltage class is designed for pre-teens who want to master the latest styles while developing a rock-solid technical foundation. At this level, we transition from basic coordination to more intricate rhythms, body isolations, and complex footwork. Whether your dancer is looking to sharpen their skills for the stage or just wants a high-energy outlet, this class delivers the perfect blend of challenge and fun.

In this class, dancers will focus on:

  • Precision & Isolations: Developing "sharpness" and control over individual muscle groups to master popping, locking, and clean transitions.

  • Dynamic Choreography: Learning fast-paced routines that incorporate various sub-genres, from lyrical hip hop to heavy-hitting commercial styles.

  • Musicality: Training the ear to hear deep layers in the music, allowing dancers to hit accents and textures within a song.

  • Artistic Confidence: Encouraging individual "flavor" and personal style through freestyle exercises and performance-driven drills.

Preparation for the Next Level

For dancers interested in our Performance or Competition tracks, this class serves as a vital training ground. We focus on the stamina, memory, and stage presence required for competition-level dancing, ensuring students are prepared for more intensive opportunities.

  • Requirements: No previous experience is necessary, but a hardworking attitude and a passion for movement are a must.

Dance Crew Posing

What to Wear: Dancers should wear comfortable athletic clothing (leggings, joggers, or shorts) and a clean pair of sneakers used only for the studio floor.

Beginner Tap

Tuesday 5:30-6:15p June-July 8wk Summer Session

Looking for a fun way to stay active, sharpen your mind, and make some noise? This class is designed specifically for teens and adults who want to explore the world of tap dance in a relaxed, social, and zero-pressure environment. Whether you’re a total beginner who has never put on a pair of tap shoes or you're returning to the studio after years away, this class is all about the joy of rhythm.

In this class, we focus on:

  • The Fundamentals: Learning the "language" of tap—from basic steps like shuffles and flaps to fun, rhythmic combinations.

  • Musicality: Tapping along to a diverse playlist that ranges from classic jazz to modern hits.

  • A Full-Body Workout: Tap is a fantastic way to improve cardio, balance, and ankle flexibility without it feeling like "exercise."

  • Brain Power: Mastering patterns and syncopation is a great way to challenge your coordination and cognitive focus.

Why Join This Class?

  • Pure Enjoyment: This isn't about preparing for a world tour; it’s about having a great time, laughing through the "clunky" moments, and feeling the satisfaction of a clear, crisp sound.

  • Stress Relief: Channel your energy into your feet! It’s a rhythmic, percussive outlet that is incredibly rewarding.

  • Community Atmosphere: Join a supportive group of peers who are all there to learn, move, and enjoy the music together.

Tap Dance Shoes

What You’ll Need

  • Attire: Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and mobile! Leggings, joggers, or standard athletic wear are all perfect.

  • Footwear: A pair of tap shoes is required. (If you’re just starting out and don’t have them yet, let us know—we can point you toward some great local or online options!)

No experience is required—just a pair of shoes and a sense of rhythm! Come see how much fun making music with your feet can be.

Tiny Tempo

Monday 4:00-4:30p June-July 8wk Summer Session

Spark a lifelong love for music and motion in Tiny Tempo, a high-energy introductory class designed specifically for the curious and kinesthetic world of toddlers.

At this age, "dancing" is often just a joyful reaction to a beat. Our goal is to take that natural instinct and turn it into foundational skills through play-based learning and sensory exploration.

What Your Tiny Dancer Will Learn

  • Body Awareness: We’ll explore how our bodies move! From "reaching for the stars" to "stomping like dinosaurs," children develop gross motor skills, balance, and coordination.

  • The Magic of Rhythm: Through clapping games and hand percussion (blocks and shakers), we introduce the concept of a steady beat.

  • Counting the Beat: Before they can do math, they can feel the count! We use simple 1-2-3-4 patterns synced with big movements to help them "see" the music.

  • Social Connection: This class is a wonderful way for toddlers to practice following directions, taking turns, and interacting with peers in a supportive environment.

Child Dancing Happily

What You’ll Need

  • Attire: anything comfortable and able to move in

  • Does not have to be potty trained, but parents will need to assist with any accidents
