DONT MISS A BEAT: STUDIO FAQ
Welcome to the family! We know that starting a new dance season (or your very first class!) comes with plenty of questions. We’ve gathered the most common ones here to help you feel confident and ready to start. If you don't see what you're looking for, send us an email.
First Day Essentials
What should my dancer wear?
Ballet Classes:
-
Apparel: Solid black leotard and pink tights.
-
Shoes: Pink ballet slippers.
-
Hair: Pulled back and secured in a pony tail or bun, out of face.
-
Note: Dancers can wear other clothing for beginning of class, after warm-up, teacher will instruct to remove.
Acro Courses:
-
Apparel: Form-fitting athletic wear
-
Hair: A secure ponytail or braid away from the face.
Competition Team:
-
Our competition team practice wear is outlined in the packet handed out at beginning of season. Feel free to contact us with any further questions!
Quick Tips:
-
Label Everything: As all shoes look the same, please ensure dancers names or initials are on the inside of their shoes to avoid losing them.
-
Where to buy: If you are unsure exactly what to get, we do have a studio Amazon Store Front that will make things 10x easier!
-
No Jewelry: For dancers safety, please leave necklaces, bracelets, or dangly earrings at home or ensure they are secured in their dance bag prior to class.
Do you offer trial classes?
We offer one free trial class for all new students in our Ballet and Acro programs. Here’s how it works:
-
Sign the Waiver: Before your dancer hits the floor, we’ll need a signed waiver on file (we will email you the link!).
-
Dance Your Heart Out: Enjoy the class, meet the instructor, and see if our studio feels like the right fit.
-
Keep the Momentum Going: If your dancer loves it and wishes to continue, we’ll help you get registered and set up your automatic payments at the start of the next class period.
No commitment is required for your trial—just bring your energy and a smile!
What is your age range?
We believe you’re never too young to start moving! We offer age-appropriate tracks to ensure every dancer is in a class where they can thrive.
-
Ballet & Acro (Ages 3+): Our foundational classes begin at age 3. These classes focus on developing coordination, listening skills, and a love for movement in a supportive, fun environment.
-
Competition Team (Ages 4+): For dancers looking to take their training to the next level, our Competition Team starts at age 4. This program is designed for dedicated students who are ready for more intensive technical training and performance opportunities.
Note: Age requirements are based on the dancer's age as of June 1. If you aren't sure which level is right for your child, just ask! We’re happy to help find the perfect fit.
Can parents stay and watch?
We love for parents to feel connected to their dancer’s journey! Here is how we handle observations:
-
For Trial Classes: We invite parents to stay and observe their child’s very first class. This is a great way for both you and your dancer to become familiar with our studio environment and meet our instructors.
-
Regular Weekly Classes: Once a student is officially enrolled, we kindly ask that parents drop off their dancers.
Why the "Drop-Off" Policy?
-
Dancer Focus: Even the best-behaved "audience" can be a distraction for young dancers. We find that students progress much faster and build more independence when they are focused solely on their teacher and peers.
-
Studio Space: We are currently enjoying a smaller studio space! Because our square footage is limited, we simply don’t have the seating capacity to accommodate a full waiting room during every session.

-
For Competition Team Members: Because our team program involves year-long commitments, choreography, and costume planning, a different set of policies applies. Please click link below to view all policies for our competitive teams.
Performances
Do you have a Recital?
Every year, we celebrate our dancers’ hard work and growth with an exciting stage production, typically held in mid-April. It’s the highlight of our season and a wonderful memory for our dance families!
Who Performs?
-
Ballet Students: Participation is optional. We want our dancers to feel comfortable and confident, so you can choose whether or not your student performs in the showcase.
-
Competition Team Members: Participation is mandatory. As part of the team commitment, all team-specific performances and ballet pieces are required for the showcase.
